Are We There Yet? Lessons for the Journey - Daily Scripture Readings - Use these scripture readings for your daily devotions from Ash Wednesday (Feb 18) to the week after Easter (Apr 5). The readings will relate to the message each Sunday. A small group guide is also available for those who want to go deeper.

Church Community Lunch – Join us after worship on March 15th for a delicious taco bar, bake sale, and wonderful fellowship! This meal is a fundraiser supporting our youth that would like to go to camp. All are welcome – bring your appetite, your friends, and your family. We can’t wait to see you there.  

Help Needed for Annual Potato Feed – We’re looking for a few volunteers to help with the Sturgis Alliance of Churches Annual Potato Feed! If you’d like to help make the broccoli cheddar topping, or assist with serving, please let us know prior to March 10th so we can confirm our participation with the event planners. The potato feed will be held March 23rd, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm Your help will make this community event a success! 

A Heartfelt Thank You – We extend our sincere thanks to those who faithfully serve behind the scenes helping our church run smoothly each week. Facilities Team: Richard Cleveland, Tim Brown, Bill Ateyo, and Therese Ennis.  Stewardship Team: Richard Cleveland, Tim Brown, Dan Alsup, Ross Lamphere, and Amanda Maine. Offering Counters: Joan Peterson, Amanda Maine, David Richards, Eleanor Richards, and Farrah Flemming. A special note of gratitude goes to Joan Peterson, who has served as an offering counter for many years with dedication and care. As she steps away from this ministry, we thank her for her faithful service and the quiet impact she has made in the life of our church.

Newsletters – We are currently experiencing issues with our emailed newsletters being delivered to some inboxes. We are working with the provider on finding a solution. While this gets sorted out, you can view the newsletters anytime by accessing the ‘About’ tab on our website (www.sturgismc.org). Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Spring Bazaar – You’re invited to the Spring Bazaar, hosted by the United Women in Faith, on March 28th from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm! Enjoy browsing delicious homemade baked good and food items, bid on great finds in the silent auction, and Easter and spring crafts. Coffee & Rolls - 8 am to 11 am. Luncheon $12 - 11 am to 1 pm: Pulled pork, potato chips, coleslaw, pie and a beverage OR Sloppy Joe, potato chips, salad, pie and a beverage. Come shop, eat, and enjoy a wonderful morning of fellowship. 

Journey Through Holy Week – Holy Week invites us to walk together through the final days of Jesus’ final days, leading us from Palm Sunday to the cross and finally to the joy of Easter morning. As a church family, we gather throughout the week to remember Christ’s love and sacrifice and to prepare our hearts for Easter. We hope you will join us as you are able during the sacred week.

  • Sunday, March 29th at 10 am: Palm Sunday
    – Worship with Blessing of the Palms
  • Thursday, April 2nd at 6 pm: Holy Thursday
    – A Simple Meal and Communion
  • Friday, April 3rd at 7 pm: Good Friday
    – Remembering Christ’s Sacrifice
  • Sunday April 5th at 10 am: Easter
    – A Service of Resurrection

Easter Sunday Egg Hunt – After worship on Easter Sunday, children are invited to gather for an Easter Egg Hunt! Eggs have been a symbol of new life, making them a wonderful reminder of the new life and hope we celebrate through the resurrection of Jesus. We hope all children will join in the joyful Easter Tradition.

“The Chosen” Bible Study - Join us every Sunday at 8:30 am to study along with the series "The Chosen." We will be watching and discussing the series along with reading scripture passages that coincide with the events in each episode. Bring your bible, notebook, writing utensils, and join us. Everyone is welcome.

Youth Group – All Middle (6-8th) and High School (9-12th) students are welcome to join on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. Bring a friend and come hang out, have fun, and grow together!

Connection Cards – We’d love to connect with you! Please take a moment to fill out a Connection Card in the lobby, and once completed, place it in the basket. As a thank you, please feel free to choose one of the books provided.  

Food, Fundraising, and Community Impact - Mark your calendars for three wonderful opportunities to support meaningful causes in our community:

  • The Kiwanis Annual Spring Fundraiserwill be held on Sunday, March 22nd from 5:00-6:00 PM at the Sturgis Community Center. For just $10, you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat soup supper. It’s a delicious way to support the great work Kiwanis does in our community. 
  • The Alliance of Churches Annual Potato Feedon Monday, March 23rd from 4:30-6:00 PM, also at the Sturgis Community Center. This event is a free-will donation, with proceeds helping those in need throughout the Sturgis area. Enjoy a baked potato with all the toppings, salad, coffee, and good fellowship. These gatherings are wonderful opportunities to connect, give back, and strengthen our community together.
  • The Love Inc. Sturgis Hope & Love Banquet is Love Inc.’s annual spring fundraising dinner and dessert auction. They are seeking baked goods donations for the event. If interested in donating, you can register your dessert at https://loveinconline.com/sturgis-banquet-dessert-registration/ by March 11th. Bring donations of baked goods to the Sturgis Community Center on Sunday March 15th from noon to 2 pm or Monday, March 16th from noon to 5 pm. For more information call 605-431-1973.

Easter Cantata Concert - The Sturgis-Area Choir will present an Easter Cantata on Palm Sunday, March 29th and Tuesday, March 31st at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis. “Upon This Rock” looks at the Easter story through the eyes of Peter.  Please join the choir as they bring the good news of Easter to our community. Thanks to the Sturgis Area Arts Council for sponsoring this concert.

Free Little Pantry – Our Free Little Pantry is available for anyone who may need a little extra help. Please feel free to take what you need, that’s what it’s here for. If you are able, you’re also welcome to give what you can. Donations of non-perishable food, snacks, toiletries, and hygiene items are always appreciated. A suggested list of items is posted on the bulletin board. The UMC - Alter Youth Group has installed the pantry at the entry of the church parking lot. For larger donations, please coordinate with the church office staff.

Treehouse After School Program – Treehouse meets Tuesdays at 3:30 pm. If interested in enrolling your child, please call Lina Raths 605-490-7247. We are looking for volunteers! Please add your name to the sign-up sheet.

Breeze Member Access – You should have received a couple emails from the “Church Office” introducing Breeze, our church membership system. Your invitation to set up your personal account was sent last week. Please keep an eye on your inbox – and check your spam folder just in case. If you have any questions or haven’t received any emails, feel free to reach out to the church office - 605-720-5578.
